CordBloodAwareness.org was created by Cord Blood Registry with input from state legislators, patient advocacy organizations and medical professionals committed to raising public awareness about cord blood banking options. Our goal is to create better understanding of the therapeutic value of cord blood stem cells as well as the available options for family banking and public donation so that families choose not to allow these valuable cells to be discarded as medical waste.

A recent Institute of Medicine recommendation said, "informed consent for the collection, storage and use of cord blood should be obtained before labor and delivery and after adequate disclosure of information."

Our goal is to ensure that consumers receive and utilize information on saving cord blood stem cells so they are able to make an informed decision.
